1. The AIA Carnival 2024
This spectacular annual outdoor event celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2024.
In addition to the exhilarating lineup of rides – there are 28 to choose from – this year sees the introduction of a special world circus event.
There are nearly 150 shows to enjoy, as well as roving entertainers who weave through the crowds spreading festive cheer in their wake.
This much-loved winter event offers a fun-packed day out for all the family. What’s more, if your Christmas calendar is already looking hectic, you can enjoy the AIA Carnival anytime up to 16 February 2025.
2. Illusion artist, Franz Harary’s Imagine Nation show
The world-famous illusionist, Franz Harary, will be performing his mesmerising show in Hong Kong for the very first time in December 2024.
Harary’s unique approach to magic has earned him international acclaim and prestigious awards.
Between 23 December and 5 January, you can enjoy his astonishing large-scale illusions at Hong Kong’s Central Harbourfront Event Space.
And that’s not all. Harary will be joined on stage by an impressive ensemble of award-winning magicians, including Danny Cole, Mickey O’Conner, and more.
3. Dazzling Christmas light installations at Lee Tung Avenue
Take a wander down Lee Tung Avenue and soak up the festive atmosphere created by an eight-metre-tall tree and stunning light installations.
There will also be interactive workshops and performances from musicians, artists, and magicians to enjoy.
On Christmas Day, why not take your children or grandchildren to meet Sinterklaas and celebrate the big day at a masquerade ball?
A trip to Lee Tung Avenue is the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit.
4. Hong Kong WinterFest
This incredible festival in the West Kowloon Cultural District is filled with radiant decorations, unique shopping experiences, and tasty treats.
Little ones will love spotting the many Christmas gnomes scattered throughout Christmas Town. They can even meet Santa in the Christmas Lodge.
From 8 pm each evening between 24 and 26 December, the Winter Harbourfront Pyrotechnics display will fill the sky with vibrant bursts of colour that will entertain children and adults alike.

5. The Big Little Christmas art installation at Harbour City
For art lovers, Tatsuya Tanaka’s “The Big Little Christmas” is a must-see in 2024.
The renowned miniature photographer and mitate artist launched his first-ever Christmas-themed art project in November, and it will continue to run until 1 January 2025.
Tanaka is known for using everyday objects to create miniature worlds. Yet, this project at the Ocean Terminal Forecourt of Harbour City is the largest installation the artist has ever created.
Immerse yourself in enchanting, oversized festive scenes and create memories you’ll never forget.
6. Hong Kong food festival
If you’re feeling peckish after all your festive activities, head to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre between 25 and 29 December and indulge in delicious feasts and treats from countries including Japan, Korea, and Taiwan – to name just a few.
There are always special offers to be found so keep your eye out for a bargain.
With so many culinary wonders to choose from, you may want to return several times during the festival’s five-day run.
7. Christmas at Hong Kong Disneyland
If you’re planning a day out with your family over the holidays, Hong Kong Disneyland has plenty to offer.
For the first time, the World of Frozen will be leading the Christmas festivities at this hugely popular theme park.
What’s more, all your little ones’ favourite Disney characters – Mickey, Goofy, Winnie the Pooh, and more – will be wearing festive costumes and waiting to welcome you with season’s greetings.
A Disney Christmas runs until 1 January 2025, and it promises to be an incredible experience.
8. Festive celebrations at HKJC Tai Kwun
Tai Kwun is the cultural heart of Hong Kong. At Christmas, this huge independent art space in Central will be transformed into a beautiful winter scene.
The “Simple Gifts of Joy 2024” is a festive celebration of joy, giving, and togetherness.
In addition to holiday shopping and seasonal treats, visitors can enjoy an entertaining programme of circus plays.
So, if you want to create a special day for your family and friends, head to the Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Art before 1 January 2025 for this heart-warming event.
9. Delicious Christmas feasts and treats across the city
As well as the staggering schedule of festive events and displays taking place in Hong Kong this Christmas, there is a diverse range of tantalising festive food to sample throughout the city.
From scrumptious Italian cuisine at La Favorita and Spanish-Mediterranean delights at Quiero Más, to traditional Christmas fare from northern Europe at FINDS, foodies will never get bored in Hong Kong.
And don’t forget to try some of the city’s best street food at the numerous Christmas markets. Once you’ve had your fill of savoury treats such as spicy fish balls and Cheung fun, why not treat yourself to a decadently sweet bubble waffle?
10. The Big Bounce World Tour
The Big Bounce in West Kowloon Art Park is a joyous experience for the whole family.
Bounce your way around a variety of giant inflatables, including basketball hoops, massive slides, and huge ball pools.
Children, parents and grandparents can all join in the fun.
In the evenings, the space is transformed into a lively “After Dark Party” for those aged 16 and up.
